New design within a historic context requires a strong architectural vocabulary and a deep and skilled knowledge of proportion systems, environmental design factors, human scale, and the appropriate uses of both traditional and modern materials. At VOH, we've designed new homes and residential additions in older neighborhoods. Tere O'Connell helped draft the Local Historic District Design Standards template for Preservation Austin, and continues to work with potential local historic districts as they define their own standards for new design and sensitive additions to older homes.
