Austin Landmark
____________________________________________________

This Victorian cottage in Austin's historic Fairview Park is the home of an artist and musician who restored the house as a studio and principal residence. The owner requested that finishes in the home be appropriate for the period when it was built, and also relate to her interest in the fauna and flora of Austin. Selections included date-appropriate wallpapers, light fixtures, and window treatments.
This project was awarded the 2005 Heritage Society of Austin Award of Merit for the restoration of a private residence.

Key Issues

• Period reproduction wallpapers and borders based on the client’s desire to focus on a nature theme

• Selection of picture molding with period-appropriate finish to facilitate rotating display of client’s art collection

• Period reproduction lighting and window treatments were selected to harmonize with the historic character of the home
